Book clubs

A great way to discover new authors, meet other book lovers and share your passion for reading.

Libraries provide a book club service which has over 700 sensational titles for clubs to borrow. Each book club set has eight copies per title, which allows for up to eight people per club.

Find club members among friends, family, neighbours and workmates. You can also try social media groups, noticeboards and newspapers.

It is easy to start a book club!

Once you have found your group members it is easy to get started.

  1. Nominate a club coordinator
  2. Choose a club name
  3. Visit your local library to register
  4. Sign into your new book club account and reserve a book club set

The role of the club’s coordinator is to organise meetings, act as the primary contact manage loans and organise the payment of the annual fee.

Book clubs pay an annual fee of $100, which is used to purchase new book club sets each year, available exclusively for book club use.

How does it work?

Once your book club is registered, browse the available book club sets using the Library catalogue to choose your next great read.

When you have found the perfect book, reserve it and it will be sent to your chosen library. Allow a week for delivery time.

Book club sets are loaned for six weeks. This allows clubs time to read their book and have a catch up with their club members, to discuss.

Sets are only available to one club at a time. The easiest way to ensure you are not trying to reserve a set that is already out on loan is to select from the Available book club sets collection in the library catalogue.
